The Peacock and the
Crane
Once
upon a time, a peacock lived in a forest beside a lake.
এক সময় হ্রদের পাশের জঙ্গলে বাস করত একটি ময়ূর।
He
was very proud of his beauty.
সে তার সৌন্দর্যে খুব গর্বিত ছিল।
Every
day he used to go to the lake. There he looked at

own reflection in the water. "Oh! What a beautiful bird am I!

feathers and wings are so beautiful!" he used to say to himself.
কত সুন্দর আমার ডানা আর ডানা!” সে নিজেকে বলতেন।
One
day, a crane came to live by the lake.
একদিন একটি সারস হ্রদের কাছে বাস করতে এসেছিল।
The
peacock saw the crane.
ময়ূর সারসের দিকে তাকাল।
He
murmured, "A new visitor is here to stay.
"একজন নতুন দর্শনার্থী এখানে থাকার জন্য," তিনি বিড়বিড় করে বললেন।
I
must go and introduce myself to him”.
আমি গিয়ে তার সাথে পরিচয় করিয়ে দিই।"
So,
the peacock walked to the lake.
তারপর ময়ূর হ্রদের দিকে যেতে লাগল।
The
crane was busy there.
ক্রেন সেখানে ব্যস্ত ছিল।
He
was catching fish for lunch.
তিনি দুপুরের খাবারের জন্য মাছ ধরছিলেন।
The
proud peacock spread out his colourful feathers for display.
একটি গর্বিত ময়ূর প্রদর্শনের জন্য তার রঙিন পালক ছড়িয়ে দেয়।
Then
he said to the crane, "Hello, Mr. Crane! Welcome to the forest.

am your neighbour.” "Thank you so much, Mr. Peacock," the crane said.

The
peacock then mocked at the crane, "Why do you have such colourless
feathers?
তখন ময়ূর সারসকে মজা করে বলল, তোমার এমন বর্ণহীন পালক কেন?
You
look so ordinary!" The crane replied, “Yes.
তোমাকে খুব সাধারণ লাগছে!” ক্রেন জবাব দিল, “হ্যাঁ।
I
don't have beautiful feathers and wings like yours.
তোমার মত সুন্দর ডানা আর ডানা আমার নেই।
But
I can fly across the lake with the help of my wings.
কিন্তু লেক জুড়ে ডানা মেলে উড়তে পারি।
Can
your feathers help you to fly?" There was no reply from the peacock.
তোমার পালক কি তোমাকে উড়তে সাহায্য করতে পারে?" ময়ূরের কাছ থেকে কোন উত্তর পাওয়া গেল না।
He
felt ashamed and went away.
সে লজ্জায় চলে গেল।
