The
Wily Followers
Once
a strong and big lion ruled over a large forest.
এক সময় এক বিশাল বন শাসন করত এক শক্তিশালী ও মহান সিংহ।
He
had three wily followers.

They
were the crow, the jackal and the tiger.
তারা ছিল কাক, শেয়াল এবং বাঘ।
They
stayed with the lion king and praised him all the time.

The
lion used to go out for hunting.
সিংহ শিকারে বের হল।
He
used to hunt down an animal everyday and eat it.

Then
the followers would eat the leftovers.

One
day, the followers of the lion saw a camel.

They
had never seen a camel before.

followers made friends with the camel.

the camel came to the cave of the lion.

The
hump of the camel attracted even the lion.

he said, "Welcome, my friend; you can stay with us in this cave."

lion, the tiger, the jackal, the crow and the camel thus lived happily in the
lion's cave.

One
day the lion fell ill.
একদিন সিংহ অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ল।
He
could no longer go out to hunt.
তিনি আর শিকারে যেতে পারেননি।
The
tiger, the jackal and the crow were too lazy to find food.
বাঘ, শেয়াল এবং কাক খাবারের সন্ধানে খুব অলস ছিল।
So
they all remained without food.
তাই সবার খাবার শেষ।
They
became weak and thin.
তারা দুর্বল ও চর্বিহীন হয়ে পড়ে।
Only
the camel became fat.
শুধু উট মোটা হয়ে গেল।
He
ate grass, leaves and fruits.
তিনি ঘাস, পাতা ও ফল খেতেন।
The
hot summer could not make him weak.
প্রচণ্ড গরম তাকে দুর্বল করেনি।

The
three wily friends were very angry.
তিন জ্ঞানী বন্ধু খুব রেগে গেল।
The
crow said to the jackal, "This camel is fat and large.
কাক শেয়ালকে বলল, এই উটটি মোটা ও বড়।
He
can be our food for a week."
এটি এক সপ্তাহের জন্য আমাদের খাবার হতে পারে।"
The
jackal agreed.
শেয়াল রাজি হল।
So
did the tiger.
বাঘও।
Then
the crow went to the lion and said, "Your Majesty, we cannot see you dying
of hunger and weakness.
তাই কাক সিংহের কাছে গিয়ে বলল, মহারাজ, আমরা আপনাকে ক্ষুধা ও দুর্বলতায় মরতে দেখতে পারি না।
We
cannot find food for you. Please eat me."

The
lion said, "Oh no! Dear crow, you served me for so many years.
সিংহ বলল, "আরে না! প্রিয় কাক, তুমি এত বছর আমার সেবা করেছ।
I
cannot eat you." Then the jackal said, "Please eat me, your
Majesty."
আমি আপনাকে খেতে পারব না।" তারপর শিয়াল বলল, "আমাকে খাও, মহারাজ।"
But
the lion refused. Then the tiger said, "My life is yours.
কিন্তু সিংহ তা প্রত্যাখ্যান করল। তখন বাঘ বলল, আমার জীবন তোমার।
Please
eat me." The lion refused again.
দয়া করে আমাকে খাও।" সিংহ আবার প্রত্যাখ্যান করল।
The
foolish camel thought he should make the same offer.
বোকা উটটি ভাবল, তাকেও একই উপহার দেওয়া উচিত।
So
he said, "Your Majesty, please let me give my life to you."
তারপর বললেন, মহারাজ, আমাকে আমার জীবন দিতে দিন।
The
lion and the tiger immediately pounced on the camel.
সিংহ ও বাঘ সঙ্গে সঙ্গে উটের ওপর ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ল।
Then
the four animals had a grand meal.
তারপর চারটি প্রাণী অনেক খাবার খেয়ে ফেলল।
But
the lion lost a faithful follower forever.
কিন্তু সিংহ চিরতরে একজন অনুগত অনুগামীকে হারিয়েছেন।
