Give to me the life I love,
দাও আমাকে আমার ভালো লাগার জীবন
Let the lave go by me,
ছোট নদীকে আমার পাশ দিয়ে বইতে দাও
Give the jolly heaven above
মাথার ওপরে দাও আনন্দমুখর আকাশ
And the byway nigh me.
আর দাও এক নিরালা পথপাশ।
Bed in the bush with stars to
see,
তারা দেখতে ঝোপেঝাড়ে হোক বিছানা।
Bread I dip in the river –
রুটি ভেজাতে থাকুক এক নদীর জলধারা-
There’s the life for a man
like me,
আমার মত মানুষের জন্য এমনই এক জীবন,
There’s the life forever.
চিরকালের তরে এই জীবন।
Let the blow fall soon or
late,
আগে বা পরে, যা খুশি আঘাত আসুক নেমে,
Let what will be o’er me;
যা খুশি তা-ই হোক, আমারই ওপরে;
Give the face of earth around
পৃথিবীর মুখ দাও, ঠিক আমারই চারধারে
And the road before me.
চলার মত পথ দাও, আমার সম্মুখে।
Wealth I seek not, hope nor
love,
চাই না মাই সম্পদ, না আশা, না ভালোবাসা,
Nor a friend to know me;
চাই না কোনো বন্ধু, আমার চেনাশোনা;
All I seek, the heaven above
এইটুকু চাই আমি, মাথার ওপরে আকাশ
And the road below me.
আর পায়ের নিচে চলার মত পথ।

Or let autumn fall on me
হেমন্ত আসুক নেমে আমার ওপর
Where afield I linger,
থেকেই যাব আমি মাঠের মাঝে,
Silencing the bird on tree,
যখন পাখির গান স্তব্ধ হবে গাছের ওপর,
Biting the blue finger.
ঠান্ডার কামড়ে আঙ্গুল হবে নিল যে।
White as meal the frosty
field –
ময়দার মতো সাদা তুষারঢাকা মাঠ ওই –
Warm the fireside haven –
উষ্ণতার নিরাপদ স্থান আগুনের পাশেই-
Not to autumn will I yield,
হেমন্তের কাছে হারব না কভু,
Not to winter even!
হারব না আমি শীতকালে, হারব না আমি তবু।
