The sun does arise,
সূর্য উঠে আসে আকাশে,
And make happy the skies.
আকাশকে করে খুশি।
The merry bells ring
আনন্দের ঘন্টা বাজে
To welcome the spring.
বসন্তকে স্বাগত জানাতে।
The skylark and thrush,
স্কাইলার্ক ও থ্রাশ,
The birds of the bush,
ঝোপেঝাড়ে থাকা পাখি,
Sing louder around,
গান গায় চারিপাশে,
To the bells’ cheerful sound,
ঘন্টার আনন্দমুখর ধ্বনিতে,
While our sports shall be
seen
তখনই আমাদের খেলা দেখা যাবে,
On the echoing green.
ধ্বনিত-প্রতিধ্বনিত সবুজে।
Old John with white hair
সাদা চুলের বৃদ্ধ জন
Does laugh away care,
চিন্তাকে উড়িয়ে দেয় হাসিতে,
Sitting under the oak,
ওক গাছের নিচে বসে,
Among the old folk.
তার অন্য বুড়ো বন্ধুদের সাথে।
They laugh at our play,
আমাদের খেলা দেখে তারা হাসে,
And soon they all say:
শীঘ্রই তারা সবাই বলে:
‘Such, such were the joys ‘
‘এই, এই রকম ছিল আনন্দ
When we all, girls and boys,
যখন আমরা ছিলাম ছোট্ট ছেলেমেয়ে,
In our youth-time were seen
আমাদেরকেও দেখা গেছে যৌবনে,
On the echoing green!
ধ্বনিত-প্রতিধ্বনিত সবুজে!
Till the little ones weary
যেহেতু ছোট গুলো এখন ক্লান্ত,
No more can be merry;
তারা করবে না আর আনন্দ;
The sun does descend,
সূর্য চলেছে অস্তাচলে,
And our sports have an end.
আমাদের খেলাও এখানে থামে।
Round the laps of their
mother
মায়ের কোল ঘিরে তারা
Many sisters and brothers,
অনেক বোন ও ভাই,
Like birds in their nest,
ঠিক যেমন পাখিরা বাসায়,
Are ready for rest;
তারাও যায় বিশ্রামের আশায়;
And sport no more seen
আর যাবে না দেখা খেলা
On the darkening green.
ক্রমশ অন্ধকার হয়ে আসা সবুজে।
