There
was once a toy clown called Tuffy. He lived in a toy shop with many other toys.
Tuffy longed to be a hero.
এক সময় এখানে ট্যাফি নামে এক খেলনা ক্লাউন থাকত। তিনি আরও কয়েকটি খেলনার সাথে একটি খেলনার দোকানে থাকতেন। টফি নায়ক হতে চেয়েছিলেন।
He
wanted to do something noble so that all the toys would cry out that he was a
hero. He thought his little corner on the toy shelf was dull.
তিনি বড় কিছু করতে চেয়েছিলেন যাতে সমস্ত খেলনা চিৎকার করে যে তিনি একজন নায়ক। তিনি খেলনা শেলফে তার জায়গা বিরক্তিকর খুঁজে পেয়েছেন.
“Why
do you grumble so much?” asked Timothy, the puppy dog. “Be happy with us,
Tuffy. Why do you want to go off and have adventures?”

“Adventures
are always exciting. I want to do something that would make all the toys take
notice of me. It’s so dull up here on our shelf,” replied Tuffy.
টফি উত্তর দিল, "অ্যাডভেঞ্চার সবসময়ই রোমাঞ্চকর। আমি এমন কিছু করতে চাই যাতে সব খেলনা আমার দৃষ্টিতে থাকে। এখানে আমাদের শেলফে খুব বিরক্তিকর।"
At
night, the clown climbed down from his shelf to look for adventures. Now that
night there was to be a grand race between two wooden horses and carts driven
by wooden farmers.
রাতে, জোকার তার বুকশেলফ থেকে অ্যাডভেঞ্চারের সন্ধানে নেমে আসে। এখন, সেই রাতে, কাঠের ঘোড়া এবং কাঠমিস্ত্রির দ্বারা চালিত গাড়ির মধ্যে তুমুল প্রতিযোগিতা হবে।
The
race was just starting as Tuffy climbed down. One cart came racing by. The
farmer riding it stood up and shouted!

“Goodness!
An adventure already! A runaway horse!” thought Tuffy. “Now is my chance to be
a hero.”
"সৌভাগ্য! ইতিমধ্যেই একটি দুঃসাহসিক! পলাতক ঘোড়া!" টাফি ভাবল, "এখন আমার নায়ক হওয়ার সুযোগ।"
The
horse and the cart came round again and Tuffy jumped at the reins. He held on
to them and dragged the horse to one side.
ঘোড়া এবং গাড়ি ফিরে এল এবং টাফি লাগাম থেকে লাফিয়ে পড়ল। সে তাদের ধরে ঘোড়াটিকে একপাশে সরিয়ে দিল।
The
cart turned over and the farmer fell down. Tuffy stood by, helping him up,
feeling very proud that he had stopped the horse.

that?” he shouted. “Now the other horse and cart will win! You silly, little
clown!”

Tuffy
was upset. “You don’t understand I’m a hero!” He ran out and sat down in a toy
farm wiping his tears.
টাফির মন খারাপ হয়ে গেল। "আপনি আমাকে নায়ক মনে করবেন না!" সে দৌড়ে বাইরে গিয়ে তার চোখের জল মুছতে একটি খেলনার মাঠে বসল।
Suddenly
Tuffy noticed a doll’s house in a corner of the shop. He saw smoke coming out
of one of the windows. “Fire! Fire!” shouted Tuffy. “Another adventure! I’ll
put it out at once.”
হঠাৎ টফি দোকানের এক কোণে একটি পুতুলঘর দেখতে পায়। জানালা দিয়ে ধোঁয়া বেরোতে দেখেন তিনি। "আগুন আগুন!" চিৎকার
করে উঠল টাফি। "আরেকটা

He
found a ladder and put it up against the wall of the doll’s house. Then he took
a big bucket, filled it with water from the farm pond.
তিনি একটি মই খুঁজে পেয়ে পুতুলের বেডরুমের দেয়ালে রেখেছিলেন। তাই তিনি একটি বড় বালতি নিয়ে মাঠের লেকের জলে ভরে দিলেন।
Just
then, someone caught him by the collar and roared, “And what do you think
you’re doing playing a silly trick like that?”
এমন সময় কেউ একজন তাকে কলার চেপে ধরে চিৎকার করে বলে উঠল, "এবং এমন একটা বেকুব কি নিয়ে মজা করছে?"
Poor
Tuffy was shaken like a rat. “Don’t do that!” he shouted. “I am a hero! I was
putting out the fire.”
বেচারা টাফি ইঁদুরের মতো কেঁপে উঠল। "এটা করো না!" সে চিৎকার করল. "আমি একজন নায়ক! আমি আগুন নেভাচ্ছিলাম।"
Tuffy
saw that he was speaking to a sailor doll who was making porridge. “Can’t I
cook in peace without you coming and throwing water at me?”
টফি দেখল যে সে একটি নাবিক পুতুলের সাথে কথা বলছে যেটি পোরিজ তৈরি করছে। "তোমার কাছে এসে আমার গায়ে পানি ঢাললে আমি শান্তিতে রান্না করতে পারি না?"
“They
won’t let me be a hero,” he sobbed.” Soon after, he heard a cry and looked
around. There was a big bowl of water nearby.
"তারা আমাকে নায়ক হতে দেবে না," তিনি কাঁদলেন। কিছুক্ষণ পর কান্নার আওয়াজ শুনে এদিক ওদিক তাকাল। কাছেই ছিল একটা বড় বাটি জল।
In
it were swimming two fine goldfish. And there was a small doll too! “She’s
fallen in! I’ll rescue her! This is a real adventure at last!”
দুটি সূক্ষ্ম গোল্ডফিশ তাতে সাঁতার কাটল। আর একটা ছোট্ট পুতুল ছিল! "সে পড়ে গেল! আমি তাকে বাঁচাতে যাচ্ছি! এটা সত্যিকারের অ্যাডভেঞ্চার, সব পরে!"

He
caught hold of a little net and dipped it into the water. He brought the little
doll out. But she slipped out and fell on to the table banging her head.
তিনি একটি ছোট জাল নিয়ে জলে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়লেন। ছোট পুতুলটা নিয়ে এলেন। কিন্তু সে পিছলে পড়ে তার মাথা টেবিলে পড়ে যায়।
She
began to cry. Up came a policeman doll and said fiercely, “What are you doing,
catching the doll and making her bump her head like that?”
সে কাঁদতে শুরু করে। একটা পুলিশ পুতুল এসে চিৎকার করে বলল, "কি করছ, পুতুলটাকে ধরে মাথাটা এভাবে ধরে আছে?"
“I
was saving her from drowning!” said Tuffy.
"আমি তাকে ডুবে যাওয়া থেকে বাঁচাচ্ছিলাম!"
টাফি বলল।
“I
was having such a lovely swim!” sobbed the little doll. “I swim with the
goldfish every night. But that clown caught me in a nasty net and spoilt my
fun. He isn’t a hero at all!”
"আমি এত সুন্দরভাবে সাঁতার কাটছিলাম!" ছোট্ট পুতুলটা কেঁদে উঠল। “আমি প্রতি রাতে গোল্ডফিশের সাথে সাঁতার কাটে। কিন্তু সেই জোকার আমাকে একটা খারাপ ফাঁদে ফেলে আমার মজা নষ্ট করে দিল। তিনি মোটেও নায়ক নন!"
The
policeman locked Tuffy in a room in the police station. Suddenly he heard a
noise outside the window of the room. “Tuffy, Tuffy!” barked a little voice.
“It is I, Timothy. Here is the key to the door.”
পুলিশ তাফিকে থানার একটি কক্ষে আটকে রাখে। হঠাৎ সে তার বেডরুমের জানালার বাইরে একটা আওয়াজ শুনতে পেল। "টাফি, টাফি!" একটু ঘেউ ঘেউ। "এটা আমি, টিমোথি। এই যে দরজার চাবি।"

Tinkle!
The key fell to the floor and the clown quickly unlocked the door. Timothy and
he ran off together and climbed up to the shelf.
ক্লিঙ্ক ! চাবি মেঝেতে পড়ে গেল এবং জোকার দ্রুত দরজা খুলে দিল। টিমোথি এবং তিনি একসাথে শেলফের দিকে দৌড়ে গেলেন।
“Thank
you. You’re the hero!” he said. “I didn’t stop to think. But you saw I was in
real trouble and you saved me.” The toy dog blushed.
"ধন্যবাদ। আপনি একজন নায়ক!" সে বলেছিল. "আমি ভাবতে থামিনি। কিন্তু আপনি দেখেছেন আমি সত্যিকারের সমস্যায় পড়েছিলাম এবং আপনি আমাকে বাঁচিয়েছিলেন।" খেলনা কুকুরটা লাল হয়ে গেল।
“Oh!
How peaceful it is up here. I’ll never want to leave this shelf again.”
"বাহ! কত শান্তিময়। আমি আর কখনো এই শেলফ ছেড়ে যেতে চাই না।"
And,
until he was sold, he never did!
আর, বিক্রি না হলে সে কখনোই করেনি!
