has told them to write a paragraph on the Taj Mahal.

Tarun does not know much about the Taj Mahal.

Tarun's
grandfather was a retired teacher.

He
knew a lot about this beautiful monument. He smiled and said,"Ok.
তিনি এই সুন্দর স্মৃতিস্তম্ভ সম্পর্কে অনেক কিছু জানতেন। তিনি হেসে বললেন, ঠিক আছে।
If
you promise to be a good boy, I will tell you many things about the Taj."

Tarun
promised not to be naughty.

So,
his grandfather began to tell him the story of Taj Mahal.

"Once
upon a time there lived a prince named Khurram.

He
was the son of Jehangir, and the grandson of Akbar the Great.

One
day Khurram went to the Meena Bazaar with his friends.
একদিন খুররম তার বন্ধুদের সাথে মীনা বাজারে যায়।
There
he caught a glimpse of an extremely beautiful girl who was selling silk and
glass beads.
সেখানে তিনি একটি খুব সুন্দরী মেয়েকে দেখলেন যে সিল্ক এবং কাচের পুঁতি বিক্রি করছে।
The
girl was Arjumand Banu Begum.
মেয়েটির নাম আরজুমান্দ বানু বেগম।
She
was born in a family of a Persian nobility.

After
meeting her, Khurram went back to his father and said that he wanted to marry
her.

Khurram
married Arjumand Banu Begum in 1612, five years after their first
meeting."

patient, Tarun. Let me finish the whole story," said his grandfather.
"All right" said Tarun.

His
grandfather continued with the story.

"Prince
Khurram was later known as Shah Jahan.

He
became the emperor in the year 1628.
তিনি 1628 সালে সম্রাট হন।
Arjumand
Banu Begum was later renamed as Mumtaz Mahal."
আরজুমান্দ বানো বেগমের নাম পরিবর্তন করে রাখা হয় মমতাজ মহল।
"But
what does the name Mumtaz Mahal mean?" asked Tarun.
"কিন্তু মমতাজ মহল নামের অর্থ কি?" যুবককে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন।
"It
means the brightest crown of the world," answered his grandfather.
"এর অর্থ বিশ্বের উজ্জ্বল মুকুট," তার দাদা উত্তর দিলেন।
Then
he continued with his tale,
তাই সে তার গল্প চালিয়ে গেল,
"When
Mumtaz was on her deathbed, Shah Jahan promised her that he would not marry
again.
"মমতাজ যখন মৃত্যুশয্যায় ছিলেন, শাহজাহান তাকে প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন যে তিনি আর কখনো বিয়ে করবেন না।
He
also promised her that he would build the most beautiful mausoleum over her
grave.
তিনি তাকে প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন যে তিনি তার উপর সবচেয়ে সুন্দর সমাধিটি নির্মাণ করবেন।
"What
is a mausoleum, grandfather?" asked Tarun in surprise.
"মন্দির কি দাদা?" বিস্মিত
যুবকটি জিজ্ঞেস করল।
"Oh!
A mausoleum is a building built to house the dead," said grandfather.
"আহ! একটি সমাধি হল একটি ভবন যা মৃতদের রাখার জন্য ডিজাইন করা হয়েছে," দাদু বললেন।
According
to legends, Shah Jahan was so sad after her death that he ordered the court to
mourn for two years.

Later,

Taj Mahal was built entirely out of white marble.

This
white marble was brought in from all over Asia.

When
Shah Jahan died in 1666, his body was placed next to the grave of Mumtaz Mahal.

This
magnificent monument came to be known as the Taj Mahal.
