Answer - A boy named Jerome Dadian got one hundred out of one hundred for Maths. The narrator was not at all pleased. He suspected that it was happening because Jerome Dadian had eaten certain ice cream.

Answer - Inside Mr. Peppi’s ice cream van, the speaker found many different flavours of tubs of ice creams.

 

(b) What secret about Dadian did the speaker come to know?

Answer - Dadian had been eating the smart ice cream; that's how he got one hundred marks in Maths.

 

 (c) Rewrite the last paragraph in normal English with correct spellings.

Answer - It is the next day now. Something is happening to me. I don’t feel quite as smart. I have been trying to do a real hard sum. It is one and one. What do one and one make? Is it three or is it four?”

 

(d) Why do you think there are peculiar spellings in the last paragraph? Give reasons for your answer.

Answer - The writer wants to convey the message to the readers that “Smart Ice Cream”, had done some silly mistakes after being smart.

Using the following hints write a story in about sixty words:

A Hare and a Tortoise

The hare boasts prides it on being able to run fast. He scolds the turtle for its speed. Turtles take this seriously. So they decided to organize a race. As he runs, the hare sees the tortoise far behind. He fell asleep in the middle of the road. But the turtle is persistent. When the rabbit wakes up, he sees the tortoise in front of him. The last bunny build is overdue. Tortoise beats him at the end.

 

Activity 10(b)

 

You have all seen an ice cream peddler pushing his cart either in front of your house or school. Write a paragraph in about sixty words on what you think he does after he has finished selling all his ice creams.

 

After the all ice creams is sold. The ice cream seller will count their earnings for the whole day. Then he will calculate his profit. After that, he will come to your house. On her way home, she will buy some toys and chocolates for her children. He will also buy what his wife tells him. Eventually he would return and reach home. Wondering how his children will be waiting for him to receive new toys and chocolates from him. It will make them happy.
